Larry Allen, Passes Away at 52

Larry Allen, a legendary offensive lineman who spent the majority of his illustrious 14-year NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys, has tragically passed away at the age of 52 while on vacation in Mexico with his family. Allen was a dominant force on the offensive line, known for his unparalleled size, strength, and athleticism. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2013 as a first-ballot selection, a testament to his exceptional career. During his time with the Cowboys from 1994 to 2006, Allen was a 10-time Pro Bowler and 7-time All-Pro selection, cementing his status as one of the greatest offensive linemen in franchise history.

He was a key member of the Cowboys’ Super Bowl XXX championship team in 1995, showcasing his ability to pave the way for a dominant rushing attack. Allen’s prowess on the field was legendary, with one of the most memorable moments being his ability to bench press over 700 pounds during an offseason workout in the early 2000s. This incredible feat of strength exemplified the physical dominance that made him a nightmare for opposing defenders. Beyond his individual accolades, Allen was also recognized as one of the best offensive linemen of his era, being named to the NFL’s All-Decade teams for both the 1990s and 2000s.

This distinction places him among the elite players of his generation and solidifies his legacy as one of the greatest to ever play the game. The Dallas Cowboys organization expressed their profound sadness at the passing of their beloved former player, describing Allen as a “Cowboys legend” and a “Super Bowl Champion” who was “deeply loved and cared for by his wife, Janelle – whom he referred to as his heart and soul, his daughters Jayla and Loriana and son, Larry III.” 

The loss of Larry Allen at the young age of 52 is a tragic reminder of the fleeting nature of life. However, his legacy as one of the most dominant and respected offensive linemen in NFL history will live on, inspiring generations of players to come.
