Apple Watch saves life
In a recent incident, Sneha Sinha, a 35-year-old policy researcher from Delhi, narrowly escaped a serious health scare thanks to her Apple Watch. Sneha, like many others, was unaware of her condition until her Apple Watch alerted her of an abnormal heart rhythm, known as Atrial Fibrillation (AFib), on a fateful evening in April.
Despite experiencing a rapid heart rate and feeling unwell, Sneha initially ignored the watch’s advice to seek medical help. However, as her condition worsened, with her heart rate exceeding 230 bpm, she realized the severity of the situation and rushed to the Emergency Centre.
At the hospital, doctors had difficulty reading her pulse and had to administer three rounds of direct shocks to stabilize her heart. Sneha was then moved to the ICU for further monitoring. Reflecting on the incident, Sneha expressed gratitude for her Apple Watch, stating that without its timely alerts, she might not have sought medical attention and could have lost her life.
After her recovery, Sneha took the time to write a heartfelt letter to Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, thanking him and his team for creating a device that not only serves as a fitness tracker but also potentially saves lives. Cook responded with appreciation, relieved that Sneha received the necessary medical care.
Sneha’s story is a reminder of the life-saving potential of wearable technology, emphasizing the importance of paying attention to our health and utilizing available resources, such as the Apple Watch, to monitor and address potential health concerns proactively.
