A quiet Place day one
“A Quiet Place: Day One” takes audiences back to its harrowing origin in a chilling new trailer. The post-apocalyptic horror trilogy’s third installment was directed by John Krasinski and shows us the aliens’ first day of the invasion by Lupita Nyong’o’s character Sam. Nyong’o gives us a tense scene at the beginning of the short, as the New York streets of anarchy after the sonus-suffering aliens’ arrival flips everyone’s daily life inside out.
As Sam goes about her day with her cat in normal circumstances, viewers can sense tension hanging in the air. When Sam meets Joseph Quinn’s character Eric, they both gravitate toward one other after dark to the cataclysm while the streets are in pandemonium. Slight sound is too much, and New York’s silence stands in stark contrast to the shouting humans and groaning aliens.
With Michael Sarnoski as director, “A Quiet Place: Day One” adds building settings to the franchise’s universe and a trendier narrative. No longer will the action take place in the countryside, but the new film will take place in a live metropolitan setting that will likely raise the stakes. Nyong’o told Entertainment Tonight that “this one’s a lil’ crazier,” emphasizing the obstacles and anxiety caused by living in a NY Planet of the Apes.
“A Quiet Place Day One” would similarly reimagine horror when it’s released on June 28 as a horrific narrative that mixes pure terror with a daring fresh story while uncovering the apocalyptic nightmare below.
